I. Project Background: The need for corrosion-resistant filtration systems driven by high temperature and humidity conditions in Indonesian chemical plants
Indonesia maintains a tropical rainforest climate throughout the year, characterized by high humidity and salt-laden air. In the production shops of chemical enterprises, chemical dust and aerosols are constantly generated, causing mild corrosion. The standard ventilation and filtration systems used by the customer had a number of critical shortcomings: housings made of ordinary carbon steel quickly rusted and became covered with through holes, and plastic filter elements could not withstand high temperatures, quickly aged and collapsed. In addition, the dismountable filter elements did not have special mounting frames, which complicated their installation and replacement, and also led to significant air leaks, significantly reducing the service life of subsequent components of the ventilation system.
After conducting a series of weather resistance tests and comparing anti-corrosion characteristics, the customer chose the solution developed by our company - a specialized filtration module with a galvanized steel housing. Two key, mandatory requirements were established: the housing must be made of hot-dip galvanized steel to provide long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion, and the filter element must be made of washable polyethylene, resistant to moisture and chemicals, which is necessary for long-term continuous operation in a workshop environment. II. Key design features and operational advantages of the filtration section in a galvanized housing
This custom-made galvanized filtration section has been specially adapted to the tropical climate of Indonesian chemical plants. It has a number of advantages due to its design and the filter materials used:
1. Galvanized body for high corrosion resistance
The main unit is made of thickened hot-dip galvanized steel sheet; The body is made using the one-piece bending method, and the welds are sealed and protected from corrosion. Compared to standard painted carbon steel housings, this product is more than three times resistant to rust and salt spray. It can withstand the high humidity and salty air of Indonesia's rainy season without corroding or deforming, significantly extending the overall life of the equipment. The side panel features quick access doors with black latches; One operator can quickly open the door to replace or clean the filter mesh without disassembling the entire housing, thereby minimizing shop downtime during maintenance.
2. Polyethylene filter mesh for conditions with high humidity and dusty chemical dust
The standard package includes a multilayer polyethylene mesh that serves as a primary filter (prefilter) for the ventilation system. It effectively captures fibers, abrasive particles and large fragments of chemical dust. The filter material is resistant to water, weak acids and alkalis, as well as mold; It can be washed with clean water and reused, which significantly reduces the cost of purchasing consumables and is ideal for the dusty and humid conditions of Indonesian chemical plants.
3. Sealed design to prevent air from leaking past the filter
Along the perimeter of the filter mesh there are sealing elements that ensure a tight fit to the grooves of the housing and prevent air from leaking around the filter. This ensures that the entire volume of fresh air passes through the polyethylene filter and prevents untreated dust from entering downstream fans and heat exchangers, thereby protecting key equipment components and reducing the frequency of repair work.
4. Flanges with individual dimensions for convenient installation on site
Inlet and outlet flanges are made to individual sizes in exact accordance with the parameters of the customer’s existing ventilation air ducts. Once delivered to an Indonesian port, the unit can be immediately connected to existing ductwork and installed in place. Eliminating the need for cutting, welding or reworking on site saves time and costs associated with system installation and upgrades.
